Giveaway Update

Have you entered the ModCloth giveaway?

I just wanted to make a quick reminder, namely, that the giveaway will be activated as soon as I reach 100 followers.  As of today, we have eighty one, counting private followers.  (Which is so encouraging and amazing!  Thank you!=)  This way, I have a small return on my investment, and theoretically, more people have the chance to discover this blog and perhaps win the prize!  Sept. 1 is the day I named as the tentative date, but I will extend the giveaway till just twenty more friends jump on board.  It's been such a blessing to have so many wonderful friends visit already, and I am looking forward to the future with some really exciting plans in the works.
.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.
In the meantime, I will be less frequent here for a few days...

All will be revealed soon - but suffice to say that tomorrow, Lord willing, something is going to take place to mark the most exciting day of my life.

A new road, and a new adventure awaits me.

See you soon!

Cath Kidston Adorable

There's adorable - then there's Cath Kidston Adorable.

I finally resigned myself to the fact that no Rich Scottish Uncle is forthcoming,  so I treated myself to not one, but two Cath Kidston notebooks.  Because, really, how could you choose between them?
I declare it impossible.

The smaller notebook is absolutely perfect for carrying about with me wherever I go.  Just the right size, flexible, and loaded with inspiration.
The larger one is my new diary in the front, and scripture journal in the back.  The spiral binding makes it ideal for sitting up in bed and jotting down notes and references from what I'm reading.

We seem to have been designed for each other.

Off to the fair today!  I have a big basket of home-baked goodies for a picnic lunch on the green.  With friends.  And music.  Maybe a blue ribbon or two! =D

Blessings on your day!
~Kellie

P.S. News flash - we've reached eighty followers!  I am so delighted!  Now, only 20 more to go by the 1st of Sept for the ModCloth giveaway to be activated.  We can do it easily, eh? ;)
Thanks so much, friends, for joining me on this journey.  I am so blessed.

Outfit: 1950s Green Safari

"The best things in life are green."
~Me

Pattern: Vintage 1957 McCall's 4251 Misses' Dress from Midvale Cottage on Etsy
Kathleen of Midvale Cottage sweetly featured this project on her blog!  So fun!

I treated myself to this pattern on Etsy for my birthday this year, and I'm loving it!  I delight in using vintage patterns, with their yellowed tissue and (for the most part) far more intuitive directions than their modern counterparts.  The darling illustrations on the pattern envelopes are always a plus=)

For this dress, I used a green and contrasting straw-colored cotton with a small, barely discernable textured print.  A bit of matching lace was the perfect touch for this, my dream 50s Safari shirtwaist frock!

I wanted something with a retro feel, combining safari-inspired design and colors with a touch of feminine detail.

In short, something to go with my hat.

Have you ever just needed something to go with your hat?
It's a good thing.

I'm in love with the colors here - that perfect, hazy summer evening green and gold.  I could live on them!

And the best part?
I altered the pattern into a blouse and pleated skirt, so I can wear them separately too!  I've been longing for a green pleated skirt - now I have three potential outfits in one!
And I put snaps on the inside waistband of the skirt and the hem of the blouse, so it will never come untucked.  Theoretically.

There's something about double-breasted brass buttons.  Or in this case, snaps.
I'm reminded of marching brass bands and Barnum's animal crackers and other happy things... how about you? =D

And the really, truly best part... You can have one of your very own!
I'm planing to offer this adorable outfit in my Shop, custom sized.  We can match=)

Happy trails, dears!

So Much to Do

Right now, I'm feeling about like this:

Overwhelmed, and loving every minute.

Someday, soon, I will try out my new hammock properly, with a mason jar of iced tea and a good book.
For now, It's just stolen minutes between filling customer orders as fast as I can.

Swiftly setting stitches,

and sewing while singing

It's the season for putting up the year's store of garlic scape pesto, too - look for a recipe soon.

And this is the week of the County Fair!  We're looking forward to Saturday, when we will find out what ribbons we placed, visit with friends, and perhaps talk someone into riding the mechanical bull.  Though I'm not sure about that last item...

My current seat isn't such a bad one, though.  In fact, it's a little akin to paradise.

Have a wonderful day, dears!

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
-Psalms 118:24

By the way, I have a guest post today over at Grace's Garden Walk.  Go ahead and let her know you visited!

And if you haven't yet, be sure to enter the blog warming giveaway!  Don't miss out on a chance to be the happy winner=)

Special Sleepover

One night, little sister came over and spent the night with me in my canvas home.  We had a simply marvelous time.

Embroidering, soft flannel nightgowns, and listening to the crickets chirp were on the programme.
And Clara had her hair done in curlers.

In the morning, she ecstatically put on her "most fluffy" dress and asked for a photo shoot - "like Kellie".

I was happy to comply.

Cherry Picking Time

Alas, the season for cherries is a thing of the past.  But the rich red, juicy glory will linger long in the form of cherry pies, cherry muffins, and cherries on oatmeal.

Thanks to hours of the Lux Radio Theater, a trusty knife, and the Excalibur dehydrator!

Experimenting

I'm so excited to journey out into the bigger waters of Blogspot blogging!
I just recently signed up for a super neat blog service - Business2Blogger by name. I can't wait to see how it works for me. Basically, Business2Blogger finally levels the blog playing field by giving you firsthand notification of paid review and posting opportunities in your inbox, collaborating with business who wish to take advantage of this unique blog-based market campaign opportunity.

Sounds pretty nifty-slick to me.

Little Town Craft Fair

Saturday was the local parade-festival and craft fair.  I've been thinking about having a table at one of these for a few years, but till now, the timing was never quite right.

Everything was perfectly lovely.  Blue skies, green grass in the park, wonderful friends... and darling things to sell.  A very enjoyable time, indeed.

My dear friend Tasha teamed up with me, and we merged Kellie Falconer Designs and Wool & Whatnot into the most adorable vendor table I've ever seen.  But don't take my word for it - I have proof! =)

My sisters and a little friend dressed in pink satin for the parade frolicked over the park, looking like an illustration in some precious children's classic.

Wall tent bunting fluttered in the breeze, adding to the festive air

And the North Idaho Hat Band made an awesome performance, as usual.

The perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday!
