Outfit: A Modern Fairytale

Folk Roses Skirt - made by me .... pink blouse - thrifted .... lace petticoat - thrifted
Italian leather belt - thrifted .... Black pumps - gift .... crocheted shawl - thrifted
green sunshades - gift .... Black fleece-lined tights - gift
Meet my latest prize - these adorable grass-green sunglasses!  I happened to win top model at the 4-H Fashion Review last year, and won a gift certificate sponsored by a local fashion retail shop, Eve's Leaves.
Enter my new summer style icon!  ♥  So in love with them...
Part Snow White, part contemporary, this outfit was largely inspired by the ribbon lacing on the back of my blouse.  I took some satin ribbon and threaded it through a large needle, then drew it through the back of the blouse in an 'X' pattern twice, one on top of the other.  This is a great way to bring in a blouse that's too baggy - I modified this one several years ago.
It also adds a beautiful fairytale-inspired feel to an ordinary top!
I was also inspired by my hairstyle, which is merely a part down the center, then twisted on each side in a spiral and very loosely pinned.  I thought it looked a little like Snow White's 'do, especially when I added a little bow on top =)
Yes, my nose is quite red... I was pretty much frozen numb by that point... Can you believe the snow (or lack thereof) around here?  It's unreal!  The air is still cold as all get-out, though... :)
Today is my dog's birthday!  Leroy is quite a part of our family, as we grew up with her since we were all puppies.  Yes, Leroy is a girl.  Let your ten year old bro name a female puppy while he's all crazy about Encyclopedia Brown, and see what you get...

She's also a day older than one of my sisters.
We're going to have a taffy-pull and homemade eggnog tomorrow! =D

Happy twelve, puppers.  And many more.
Hoping your day was marvelous - What creative inspiration did you find today?

  2. That's a clever way of restyling a blouse! I'll have to remember that...wish I'd thought of it before I hacked up my only green blouse (now long since given to the thrift shop because I outgrew it this Summer *HatHeart*).

    Happy Birthday to Leroy!
    God bless,

  8. And Happy Birthday to Lilly, too. ;)

It is Lilly, right? My mind has truly abandoned me. I used to know when all of your sister's birthdays were like I know my own. And now I can't even remember how old they all are! Oh well.

    You're brainless friend,
    ~Tasha~

  12. That is a lovely outfit Kellie! I must admit, you are an inspiration to me, and make me want to go change right now. I've seen this look on others, but with shorter skirts and it doesn't look half as good as you make it look!

    Much Love,

  16. It's a lovely outfit, everything in it goes together.

Leroy's name reminds me of one of out past cats, who was a she, but we called her Lev, which is he-lion in Czech. And we don't even have a younger brother. :-)
