An Old Fashioned Pie Party

"I want to have an old fashioned Pie Party."  Said Ellen.

"What's a pie party?"  I said.  Ellen looked at me as if I were daft.

"It's where everyone brings pies and we eat them," she replied.
No arguments here.  Of course, I already had the old fashioned part figured out.  That meant costumes. Yes.

Apple pies, crumble pies, chocolate and blueberry and quiche pies - I personally made four pumpkin, three peach blueberry, and two chicken pies.  I didn't realize that I needed stress relief till I started rolling out those pastries... once I got started, they just sort of kept on going.  It's balm to my soul, rolling out pie dough.

Dressing up, friends, pies... and most special of all, celebrating one gorgeous and ridiculously talented girl.  Ellen, I'm so thankful for you.

Let's do this more often.

  1. What a great idea for a party! You all look like you had so much fun. Looking at all the photos makes me wish I was there. :) I think my dad would love a pie party, 'cause pie is pretty much his favorite dessert ever.

  2. What a perfect Sweet Sixteen Party idea! What a perfect setting! Congratulations Ellen on your special day! All those pies look so yummy. I can only imagine how fun it was to sample so many Blue Ribbon specials. Everyone looked to be having the most fabulous time. The Yellow School House is almost magical in it's history of so many special events over the decades. It was the best place ever for the coming out party of a special 16 year old! Kellie, your did a wonderful job of capturing this special day with Algy. Thanks for sharing and you and Tasha look adorable all decked out !!

  3. That sounds fun! I've never had a pie party. However, my family and I just had an Avengers' party, wherein we all wore Avenger-style outfits, made shawarma, and ate Avengers' inspired aperitifs. Good times. :)

  6. That looks like fun! I hate baking, but the "idea" of baking pies is truly inspiring! :D

Okay, so what exactly where those "stilts" things? My brother has wooden stilts but NOTHING like those technological marvels!

  10. This looks like a wonderful party! I love the whole idea of an old-fashioned pie party...it sounds lovely, especially for springtime! Happy birthday to your sister! My younger sister will be turning sixteen this year as well...how time flies--it seems like just yesterday that I was celebrating my own sweet sixteen.(:

All those pies are making me hungry...if it weren't such a hot day, I would be tempted to bake one myself! :P
