Blueberries for Sal

No, no blueberries in sight.  But for some reason, this outfit brings back all the nostalgia of one of my favorite childhood books, Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey.  Blue gingham is so delicious.

Kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk.

  1. Ah! As soon as I read the title of this post, I knew exactly what you were referring to! I've always loved the Sal books! I read the one about clams a LOT growing up. Love this!

  2. Oh,la,la!! The blue checked skirt is fabulous with Kelly green!! I should try that combo with mine. The best part about this skirt is the deep pockets and easy gathered waist. It is so comfy to wear yet pretty . Plus there are many ways to accessorize this basic for various occasions. Blueberries are in season here and ready for the Pickin' if you can mange the 95 degree heat !! I think. I will wear my blue checked skirt to the farmers market and purchase the blueberries in those little green containers!! Or better yet, wear it to the store in the A/C!

  3. Oh, my family has always treasured that book. As a little girl, I even tried to recreate my own version, applying to my homestate FL.

  4. Lovely pictures! I mourned the day when my youngest child, (now eleven) was too old for me to read Blueberries for Sal anymore.

"Kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk!" Oh YES! Such delightful days!

  6. Lovely outfit! I absolutely love gingham. I picked up some beautiful blue gingham at Goodwill the other day, and then I found some red gingham as well. I can't wait to come up with something to sew with them!
