lovely visitor.

A rare and beautiful visitor to our yard, this Cecropia moth landed just long enough for a chat about sundry niceties before soaring away to the cool cedar woods again.

  1. Stunningly beautiful! What a treat that he/she stopped long enough to say hello and pose for a few photos of the visit together.

  2. Beautiful. I love when I can catch a moth or a butterfly on camera - it can be tricky! ;)

  4. What a fabulous little nature encounter. I love those bigger moths--they're often so delightfully fuzzy, and those feathery antennae...! Not to mention their wings. Who'd have thought a moth could be so striking?

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Wow! Really beautiful! It's interesting how moths can either look completely different from butterflies or very similar. Moths have big variations in wing structure.

  6. Ah- how beautiful! My favorite book from childhood is "Girl of the Limberlost," and she collects moths. :)
