Misty Gloaming

The last week has been misty, grey, cozy.  Cozy but a little bleak.
The other day the girls and I went for a walk before dusk, and the world we found outside was incredibly beautiful, veiled in fog.

Then, not even a mile up the mountain, we neared a level space and suddenly broke out above the mist, revealing a brilliant blue evening sky and the most fantastical candy colored clouds.  It was like stepping into fairyland.  A sherbet-hued sunset lay below us, and the comforting trees surrounding stood tall and still against it all.

All too soon we descended down into the fog again before darkness fell, but I'll carry the memory of that beautiful place above our little world of grey mist through many a day when everything looks bleak and dreary below.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."

--Isaiah 56: 8-12

    1. Ha! It was a little in between... with exercise, completely warm, and standing still, a little chilly. I love that weather.

  2. Beautiful! The discovery of sun and brightness reminds me of how many times I have flown and it was foggy and misty on the ground only to break into bright sun and clouds moments after take off! If you can go high enough, the sun always shines!

  3. It looks like you all broke into song at the clearing... (don't know if you actually did) - but it's all just lovely. Love seeing your hair in its cute braided updo.

  7. Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous Kellie! I love walking in the evening fog whenever I get the chance! (It's usually on my way out to the chores.) We live by a river, the Allegan forest, and have a swamp in our backyard, so come summertime we have plenty of misty mornings! Great post, and I adore your sweater! ~Rebekah

  8. The forest and mountain looks beautiful, cold, desolate and breath-taking. That's the perfect scripture to compliment the landscape. I forgot about these fond verses that I remembered two years ago. Thanks for the reminder.

  12. Haha! I too was wondering if it was hot or cold!?!

We had a day just like this not long ago, the fog simply decided to stay for an entire day. It felt so odd as I live basically in the middle of an open field, I felt so enclosed. It was quite cozy though!

  13. So haunghting, and whimsical! Our God has an amazing eye, and paints the most breathtaking views, then guides us into a quiet little moment where we feel His majesty! Lovely find =)
