Posies.

 

 Some bright felt posies made into bobbies - such a happy splash of color on a gray day!

Mildred is being adorable, as usual.

I washed my hair the other evening, then tucked it behind my pillow and burrowed under the blankets as usual... however, in the morning, I awoke to find my hair frozen stiff, standing straight out in loops and curls when I picked it up.  It was rather fascinating.  I wonder if the hair would snap off if frozen hard enough?  I don't plan to find out.  

Speaking of gray days, I'm working on something to help us all find a little sunshine here in the dull and dreary January blogging season... stay tuned!  Did someone say blog party, sale, and giveaway?  Yehaw!

These Sisters of Mine

Last night, my sisters descended on me and insisted that I download the camera.

It appears that they had commandeered it for the afternoon, in the hopes of creating something that might make Kellie's blog.

Let's just say that I am very impressed... ♥

The following work is entirely due to Ellen, Lilly, Matilda and Clara... all I did was download the camera.  And help edit them:)

Here we have an enormous, stupendously awesome slug they discovered in the garden... I knew they were playing with the slug for the better part of two hours, but what I didn't know that they were subjecting him to a photo session, complete with dandelion & plantain arrangements...!

They put him in the duck pen later, but the ducks were too terrified to make any advances to eat him.  God's methods of self-preservation for His creatures are truly amazing.

But the crowning glory is the dollhouse shoot they created.  Most of the clay miniatures and the doll were made by Lilly.  She is planning to open up a clay doll miniatures Etsy shop as soon as 'her technique is perfected.'

The doll's .45 colt is kept in the kitchen hutch drawer... just so you know.  In case something's getting into the chicken coop.

And yes... there's even an accordion. *melts*

Miss Betsy McCall

I love paper dolls - I always have.  Both collecting and drawing my own form some of my fondest childhood memories... 

Well, I just discovered this classic paper doll and I can't believe I haven't known about her before now!

Miss Betsy McCall paper dolls were printed in the McCall's Magazine and pattern company starting in May 1951, and lasting until at least 1995.  Children could cut out the printed dolls and clothing, or for a small fee (10¢ in 1957, 25¢ in 1967) paper dolls printed on cardboard could be ordered. Betsy McCall became so popular that various sized vinyl dolls were produced by Ideal and American Character Dolls... and now, you can make your own set of these lovely dolls once more!

I found the following link while researching for a special upcoming project... and had to share so that you too can print out and laminate a set of these darling vintage paper dolls for yourself, a sister, daughter, or friend!  What fun!

Betsy has changed over the years... here she is with her adorable mother in 1952, while the rest are from 1960.

Aren't her frocks too darling?  That's one of the reasons I love paper dolls so much, I think... they can have as many lovely dresses as one's imagination can concoct for them!

Little Town Craft Fair

Saturday was the local parade-festival and craft fair.  I've been thinking about having a table at one of these for a few years, but till now, the timing was never quite right.

Everything was perfectly lovely.  Blue skies, green grass in the park, wonderful friends... and darling things to sell.  A very enjoyable time, indeed.

My dear friend Tasha teamed up with me, and we merged Kellie Falconer Designs and Wool & Whatnot into the most adorable vendor table I've ever seen.  But don't take my word for it - I have proof! =)

My sisters and a little friend dressed in pink satin for the parade frolicked over the park, looking like an illustration in some precious children's classic.

Wall tent bunting fluttered in the breeze, adding to the festive air

And the North Idaho Hat Band made an awesome performance, as usual.

The perfect way to spend a sunny Saturday!

Weekend Cool

Tomorrow, I'm going to be at our little town's annual parade/bazaar, with my first craft booth! Tasha is going to do it with me - I think our table will be the most darling of it's kind ever seen. Just saying.

If you're in the neighborhood, you should drop by! And if that's not incentive enough, the North Idaho Hat Band will be performing as well. What are you waiting for? =D

Anyway, I took a break from the hectic grind to take the girls swimming this evening in our pond. 

It was grand.
