As I write, the rain is tapping with that indescribably sweet rhythm on the roof of my bus. I love the rain. Sometimes, say, when toasted cheese with pickles and hot soup is underway and I'm getting ready to snuggle up on the sofa with my sisters for a wet afternoon, there's such a nostalgia clinging to everything. Some of my happiest memories were made during the rain.
Other times, a foggy day can put me in retrospective, sentimental mood that nothing will satiate but French accordion music and a long walk - just my dog and I. To feel the rain fall on my face, to look on the green of the world and the smell of fresh new earth is to feel so very alive.
There's a singular romance about it like no other - and I think the Rose skirt captures that feeling. It's glamorous, it's romantic, and somewhere clinging to it is a grace that evokes the charm of a rainy day serenaded by La Vie en Rose.

So there is this modestly priced cafe close to Notre Dame in Paris where you can sit outside and just look up and see the magnificent cathedral. If I close my eyes, I can see you sitting there enjoying a cafe au lait, with the thick swirly milk, and a croissant while Edith Piaf's beautiful warbling voice is playing in the background. You are wearing this lovely outfit in the cool sunny Parisian afternoon furiously writing and sketching in your notebook for the next fabulous KFD skirt line for Fall 2013. Mademoiselle, encore un cafe? By the way, was that you sitting there the other day in that fabulous blue checked blouse and green linen skirt?? Oh, la,la La Vie en Rose jumped the big pond to be available here in Idaho! Oui Monsieur, encore deux cafes aux lait, s'il vous plait!! Oh, please show me all the delicious plans in your sketch book under the canopy of the beauty of Notre Dame and Edith Piaf to lead the way!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt! I've been looking for a great floral skirt :)

Such a cute little skirt! Between the tulle and the print and the bow-- it's kind of a squeal fest. You look like you should sipping tea and eating finger sandwiches with your favorite ladies!
