Another splendid and fantastic Literary Heroine Blog Party! Your sponsors are tremendous with their perfect giveaways this year. I am looking forward to reading everyone's favorite heroines and literature. Such a perfect party for the February month of love and cold weather keeping everyone inside and close to the fire. This year, I am challenging myself to re-read all of the Jane Austen novels in hopes of visiting her home in New England next Fall on a possible trip we are thinking about. February will be kicked off with Pride and Prejudice followed by Mansfield Park.

I think my favorite birthday memory was probably from my last birthday. We were on a trip visiting friends that day.:) I have a lot of good birthday memories though.:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you Kellie!

My dad used to take my little brother and me to get ice cream on our birthday (only a few days apart.) I cried one year because he suggested I get hot fudge, and I thought it was awful and didn't want to hurt his feelings. Of course, he got the truth out of me, and only offered to buy me something better. That's my favorite birthday memory. :) My other favorite is crying one year because I asked my mother for a cherry cake, and she worked so hard to make one, and when it came time to eat it, it was far too rich for me. I couldn't eat it, and cried because I thought it would hurt her feelings. Of course it didn't. ♥ (I cried a lot!) :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this great event, Kellie! :)

I arrived at a friend's house expecting a simple lunch and found myself in the midst of the most elaborate, gorgeous birthday celebration I'd ever received. The theme was homemaking, and everything from the gifts to the games related to the biblical and womanly art of homekeeping!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to think back on the most memorable birthday I had. Lets see.......last year several of my best friends and I got to go horseback riding in the hill country for my birthday. ReplyDeleteI've never really enjoyed my birthday. I grew up with two brothers, one older and one younger, and our birthdays fall September, October, November - - with mine still falling in the middle. So it was always got lost in the run up of birthdays to Christmas. It wasn't until I turned 21 that I had my first great birthday. I went out a bought a bottle of tequila and some margarita mix. I ordered a large, Hawaiian pizza. I had been buying over the previous few months all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: all of which I had by October. I drank margaritas, ate pizza, and watched Buffy all day long. It was the best time ever.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite birthday memory goes way back to when I was five and got a bike - I felt so grown up.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite birthday memory was when I turned eight. My mom and I went with one of my best friends to see the Nutcracker ballet on stage. We loved it so much! Ballet was my favorite thing in the world at that time and so that surprise was the best ever. :) I went to Ciarrai's studio and Twenty Fingers and favorited a whole bunch of stuff (I don't have Facebook or anything like that).
ReplyDeleteHi Kellie!
ReplyDeleteThe linky thing won't let me post my link since it can't be more than 50 characters so I'm just putting my link here:)
http://emmasfunplace.blogspot.com/2014/02/literary-heroine-blog-party2014.html
Hi Emma! So sorry the linky wasn't being nice for you - I've added your link manually so that everyone can find it. So excited to read your post! xo!
DeleteOne of my favorite birthday traditions that we have is that my father takes us out to breakfast. The past couple of years, we've gone to a little hole-in-the-wall place where they have homemade tea and applesauce stuffed pancakes. It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThese are all SO nice, and I'm thrilled to be included :D love that Little Dorrit & Co embroidery, and everyone has such beautiful creations!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say my best birthday memory so far has been traveling to New England last year to visit friends and see all sorts of sites that I'd only read about in books, including Orchard House--- which, incidentally, inspired my Little Women painting! It was so wonderful to wander through Louisa's yard, to see her room and her writing desk....just such a lovely day!
My favorite birthday memory would have to be my 17th birthday. My whole family were there, including my grandma and aunt (they rarely come to visit, so it was a treat). We have a tradition of eating out on birthdays and my parents picked out this lovely place I've never been to. It was amazing.
ReplyDeleteComment sharing my favorite birthday memory...
ReplyDeleteMy parents took me out for dinner for my 16th birthday and my dad gave me my promise ring. It was a complete surprise for me, and he picked the perfect ring for my taste/personality! I still wear it every single day. Problem was, my dad and I are sometimes confused as husband and wife (highly annoying, but funny), and I'm pretty sure our waitress (who saw the ring) thought that I'd just accepted a proposal :P
What a great way to spend my morning, browsing through Etsy shops!
ReplyDeleteLittle Dorrit & Co.

I wanted to do something special for my 25th birthday but I didn't know what even when the family kept asking. I was so surprised when they threw me a big surprise party! My Mom and I also got tickets to watch Broadway's Beauty and the Beast as my birthday/Christmas present. It was my first broadway show!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite b-day memory...good question! I think I would have to say it was the time that my dad had lost his job, and Mom said there might not be a gift that year and then they totally surprised me with the comforter set and a huge body pillow! It was such a blessing and the surprise is what made it the most memorable :) Plus, it was pink!
