Farmgirl Ham

Her fair complexion sunkissed by days lived under the summer sky, trusty hat on her head and faithful dog at her side - this here's a true blue farmgirl.

She's cute, and spunky, and just loaded with pizzazz.
Not to mention a downright ham in front of the camera.

Quiet Evening

From out in the woods - the glowing canvas, silhouetted bunting, clacking keys, click of mouse, hum of radiator, far-off roar of a passing train...
Inside - chilly toes, wool-clad, curled around the inviting warmth of the heater.  Room serene, library books stacked high.

Rocking chair waiting.

Two little things.

My dear friend Emily just had a great idea.
I hope you think so, too, because it's too good to miss out on!

Head on over to Emily the Industrious for 30 days of photography fun!

Also, we are one follower away from discovering the winner of the ModCloth giveaway.  I can't believe it!  Ninety-nine people have subscribed to my little web journal.  Thank you, friends!  You're such an encouragement!  My Google reader only has 91 followers at the moment, but the stupendous excitement of having three digits in my followers widget is far eclipsed by the fact that people, like you, care enough to come back and see what I have to say - my priority is people, rather than numbers.
So stay tuned for a winner in the very near future!

Special Sleepover

One night, little sister came over and spent the night with me in my canvas home.  We had a simply marvelous time.

Embroidering, soft flannel nightgowns, and listening to the crickets chirp were on the programme.
And Clara had her hair done in curlers.

In the morning, she ecstatically put on her "most fluffy" dress and asked for a photo shoot - "like Kellie".

I was happy to comply.

In which I wear my gown once more. . .

The post you've been waiting for. . .
The post with pictures of my graduation celebration!  And my vintage gown!
However, the first picture must needs have myself wearing one of those horrid, hot, shapeless masses over my dress known, simply, as. . .
The Gown.
Also, The Cap.  That enormous chunk of covered pasteboard perched on one's head like some sort of disoriented and inverted pie plate.
(Yes, I am exaggerating hugely.  I really did enjoy getting to dress up in all of my traditional and nonsensical splendor and celebrate this milestone in my life!)

Timothy, there, in the black fedora, had the right idea.  I should have brought my pith helmet. . . =D

After the ceremony, one of the graduates had a limousine waiting outside to take us all for a lovely ride through the countryside.  It was really fun.  I wish I had pictures, but alas!  I'll leave it to your imagination to visualize the posh hilarity of eight homeschool grads reclining in a limo, goblets filled with sparkling cider, enjoying themselves hugely.

Afterwards, we all met up at one of the grad's home for a lovely BBQ.
And took pictures of sweet things.

Like these girls.  I love these girls - and look!  They all match!

And my sweet mother, broken fibular bone and all.  I love you, Ma!
Well, that's all for now.  Have a beautiful evening, friends!

How to toast a Marshmallow

Pathetic blogging notwithstanding, I am here to say that it should not be long now before life settles into it's usual state of relative normalness around here.
I decline to give a more detailed definition of the word normalness - I'm not sure that's possible with our family;)
Something you may be able to relate to, however, included in the term, is that I am hoping to have a computer of my own soon!  You might perhaps recall the event of my former laptop being murdered last June, in a tragic event including a small sister, a large glass of milk, and a short-circuit deluge.  I have since been blogging, supporting an online business, the whole nine yards  - on the uncertain hospitality of my dear brother's computer. . .it's been onerous, to say the least;)
I've been working, saving, and praying for another computer ever since, and one of these days (soon) I hope to see my prayer realized.  In the meantime, I know you'll understand my exceedingly lame blogging patterns of late.  Every two weeks or so?  Christopher Columbus. =)
So hang in there, my friends - I'll be a famously prolific blogger yet! ;D
In other news, The Senior banquet was lovely.  I am still trying to get ahold of pictures from the event... I have a camera on the list just below laptop:)  Also, my trip pictures.  Additionally, some cute little pictures of everyday life, sewing pictures, and pictures in general are currently MIA, but should be available for display soon.
.:.:.:.:.
For now, enjoy my sister's expertise as she demonstrates the time-honored and exciting pastime of marshmallow roasting.  Also, I shall show you how to best enjoy a piercing and mist-laden day on the lake,
Idaho style - "What, snow melt-off?  The water's great!"

(No, I didn't catch pneumonia nor die of hypothermia.  Quite.:)

Happy Wednesday, y'all!
- Kellie

Real Quick

I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day!

My blogging has been pathetic of late.  That's not my intention, but the unstoppable hurtling-on of life is more than a match for me at the present. =)

So, in between everything, I'm swinging by to share a picture of my darling mother and I at a banquet I attended last Saturday.
I graduated last year, and to all intents and purposes am in the class of '10, but I'm going to be having a ceremony this year with the class of '11 as my family were too busy to do so last year.  I'm excited.

And best of all, I finally had a special occasion to wear my green dress - the graduation banquet!  I think I'll be donning it again for the actual ceremony in June... I don't want to loose a chance to bask in it's loveliness;)

A dear friend's mother wore it as her wedding dress in 1949.

Look for more pictures soon!

Have a marvelous Monday, my friends!

A Wee Bit o' Scottish Mood

First, I put on my cheerful red tam and comforting blue Wellingtons (I usually call them rubber boots - but when I'm in a Scottish Mood... they're Wellingtons) and milked the goats.  I always wear a tam when I'm in a Scottish Mood - which nearly always occurs when it's damp and foggy.
Next, piping hot ginger tea and several chapters in 1 Thessalonians.  Tilda made breakfast - the dear!  By the way - these are some of my favorite things.  Just thought you'd like to know that.
Some dear friends of ours who are market farmers stopped by with some new potatoes, cabbage, and fresh sunflowers, and we sang some hymns and chatted awhile.
Later, Ma, the girls and I had a tea party with Walker's shortbread (in keeping with my Scottish Mood), and then some sewing projects appeared.
Alexander Scourby is reading Joshua at the moment.
Och aye, it's been a lovely day.
"Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. . . Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole  spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it."
1 Thessalonians 5:5-11, 16-24
Will ye' no come back again?
While the Scottish Mood lasts, I remain,
Yours truly,
~Miss Margery Stuart~
